we have lettuce!

It's been so hot here that I haven't gotten our replacement plants in the ground yet (see the previous "naughty bunnies" post). So, the basil, peppers, and zucs are still on the porch. The good news is that moving the lettuce to pots was a great idea - and the bunnies never figured it out (or they're just not that brave). In less than two weeks, we've had some really good growth on the romaine and the red leaf is coming along.

After several days of sun and hot temperatures, and rain almost every 24 hours, the sundrops decided to bloom all at once.

I love these flowers. I got about 10 plants from my neighbor's garden a few years ago, and they have just taken off. I now easily have over 100 plants. And the best part is that they are virtually maintenance-free - put them in the ground and forget about 'em. Once they're done blooming this year, I'm going to divide them and move them around to fill in some bare spots in the shade garden. If you live locally and would like some, just let me know. I'd be happy to share :-)

Ahh, I hear thunder again...
