tiger the moth

Tiger the caterpillar became a moth sometime this evening between 5:30 and 9:20 p.m. I must've taken 30 pictures, and this is the best one I've got.

He's approximately an inch long, has two small black spots on each wing, black rings on his legs, and a furry face. Turns out he is a Virginian tiger moth (Spilosoma virginica). He's outside at the moment, perched on a stick in a pot of lettuce.

So long, Tiger. Visit often.
