Before beginning student teaching this fall, I was able to finish this rug for my brother Aaron. He was sweet enough to take pictures for me (hence the Star Wars figures).
The rug is made from recycled t-shirts I got at the Salvation Army or out of my own closets. Most of the white shirts were dyed with coffee or tea to get a variety of shades of light brown. I also added occasional strips of white and baby blue. The shirts were cut into 1" by 3" strips and hooked onto latch hook canvas. I trimmed the edges with a bright blue acrylic yarn. All in all, the rug took approximately one year to finish. I could've had it done sooner, but other projects got in the way...
