potholder queen

While putting away my holiday decorations, I cam across my box of potholders made for my by my mom. For those of you that don't know, my mother is responsible for my crafty genes. Who could forget my toddler bib overalls with the scottish terrier buttons, the bell-bottomed golf pants made from old curtains, or my high school book bag made from an old pair of blue jeans?

I currently consider my mom the potholder queen. I have a nice stash of potholders in a box in my craft room. I'm a little sentimental, so I save everything she makes for me. That's why the potholders are in a box and not my kitchen drawers. Some take turns hanging in various rooms of my house for color and inspiration. I thought it would be nice to share a few from my stash with you.

Made from recycled blue jeans. Sequins make a heart in the center.

Also made from recycled blue jeans.

Mom embroidered the logo from Alternatives for Girls on it for me (I used to work there).

I love the color + black & white fabrics.

Autumn leaves. Mom has a new obsession with leaf print fabrics.

My mother encouraging my obsession with orange fabrics.

This one has little flaps that are layered. Very cool!

One of my favorites from my ethnic print potholders.
