I've been knitting a different version of the baby booties. Instead of the strap, this one comes up a little farther on the foot and has a crocheted row of contrasting color. I decided to crochet the row instead of picking up knitting stitches as instructed in the pattern. I hate picking up knitting stitches (a mind-numbing and tedious task), so I had to figure out a way around it. I think the crocheted row looks better because it adds a different texture to the booties. Even after felting, the difference between the knitted rows and crocheted row are just distinct enough to make it a little more interesting.
The red pair makes me think of Christmas. I think that was due to all the snow we've experienced over the past few weeks. This pair isn't felted yet - they are patiently waiting with a few other pair I still need to assemble before felting.
