melodi mosaics

Since I will be working four days next week (which is rare for me these days), I thought I'd stay home today and tomorrow and work on finishing a few projects for our mini-craft show this Saturday. Today I'm felting baby booties and making another attempt at the zipper pouches.

But I'm not the only one that's been working hard. Mel has been breaking glass for over a month, and gluing her tiles to anything she can get her hands on. She's been working on mirrors, votive and candle holders, vases, and even a few table tops. Her items are sure to be a hit! Here are photos of a few of my favorite items in her Facebook photo album:

These green votive candle holders are beautiful all lit up. One of the things I love about Mel's candle holders is how the mosaic glass is transformed by the light inside. Cheryl might have to fight someone for these!

Lately, when I tell (more like brag) about Mel's mosaics, I always get asked if she makes mirrors. Apparently mirrors are very popular home decor items this season, so Mel has made a few for the mini-craft show. This one is my favorite because the pink, purple, blue, and green all seem to jump out - but not one color overwhelms the mix.

Here's another candle holder in shades of green, blue, and purple. Did I mention Mel dyes her grout to match each project? Yup - she's a grouting superstar!

Mel also does custom orders, so if you have something specific in mind you can always e-mail her (contact me for her info - I don't want to post it here for fear of spamming).

They are so beautiful, aren't they.
Go head, Mel!
