I've been threatening to make a business card holder for a while. I was originally inspired by
designverb, but didn't like the idea of using someone else's template. You see, my brain rebels when I attempt to look at another's instructions or patterns. My brain usually shuts off, converts the instructions to an ancient language I cannot understand, and then when I reach the point of overload it tells me, "You know, you could do it like this..." and then the creativity starts to flow. So when Liz (the friendly flight attendant that passes out her sister's business cards during flights) told me she'd run out of business cards, it suddenly occurred to me it would be a good idea to try the idea out.

Front (closed) and back:

Just like designverb, I used a paint chip sample I picked up at the neighborhood hardware superstore. I then modified a pattern I had originally created to hold handmade notecard sets I made for the holidays a few years ago. Since I already had an idea of what I needed to do, the whole process only took an hour. The front flap tucks into the bottom, so there's no need for a snap or anything.
Now I just need to print out a bunch of business cards for her. I know she'll love showing everyone the holder, too.

This business card holder is pretty simple and chic. Good job!
OMG! what a clever use for paint color sample cards! Plus they are usually free at the hardware store! I never even thought of using them for anything! Thanks for the inspiration! ~aonbelay from swap-bot
